Via Allier - Etape 06 - Vichy > Puy-Guillaume
Relaxed and relaxed, you leave Vichy by bike and follow the greenway along the Allier towards Saint-Yorre.
In a peaceful, unspoilt setting, take advantage of the windows overlooking the Allier, which open onto large areas that are sometimes occupied by the river and sometimes given over to terrestrial flora and fauna. Further afield, the Allier welcomes the waters of the Dore at Bec de Dore, a tranquil setting for the species that call it home. The Auvergne mountains appear in the distance, suggesting a more contrasted relief. Don't miss a detour to the Domaine Royal de Randan, or a visit to Ris and the Church of St. Croix, a former Cluniac priory.
Itinerary :
From the center of Vichy, cross the Allier and follow the greenway along the river. You pedal gently to Saint-Yorre, where the work is completed at the bridge, pending further construction. Staying on the same bank, leave St-Yorre on the D434 for St-Priest-Bramefant. At the traffic circle, take the road opposite, then immediately left, towards St-Priest-Bramefant on the D433 (minor road). As you leave the village, follow the signs for Limons. The route approaches the Allier at the port of Ris, where the Dore joins the Allier. At Limons, cross the Allier by the bridge to reach Puy-Guillaume.
